Hidex strengthens environmental commitment through marine research and archipelago conservation

The multipurpose research vessel M/S Aranda is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including the Hidex 300 SL Super Low-Level counter for sensitive analysis of environmental samples.
Hidex, a global leader in advanced scientific instrumentation, continues to demonstrate its dedication to environmental stewardship and marine research through two initiatives: its long-standing partnership with the Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association (Pidä Saaristo Siistinä ry) and its support for cutting-edge research aboard the Finnish Environment Institute’s (SYKE) research vessel M/S Aranda.
Supporting Marine Science on M/S Aranda
M/S Aranda is a cornerstone of Finland’s marine and environmental research efforts. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including the Hidex 300 SL Super Low-Level Liquid Scintillation Counter, the vessel enables scientists to perform highly sensitive analyses of environmental samples. In October of 2025, Hidex Service Engineer Max Bracha and Sales Engineer Inkeri Laine were joined by Hidex Founder Jukka Haaslahti for a routine maintenance of the research vessel's LSC counter.
For Jukka, the visit was very impactful on a personal note. Before starting in the radiation detection industry, Jukka taught mathematics and physics at Rauma Maritime College, preparing future sea captains for life at sea. His lifelong passion for sailing and marine life made witnessing Hidex’s contribution to marine research especially meaningful.
“Seeing the company I founded contribute to cutting-edge marine research is a source of great pride,” Jukka reflected.
Continuing Partnership with Keep the Archipelago Tidy
Hidex also proudly renewed its multi-year collaboration with the Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving Finland’s unique waterways and coastal environments. Through waste collection services, environmental education, and advocacy for sustainable boating, the association works to protect the natural beauty and biodiversity of the archipelago region.
This partnership reflects a shared vision: combining scientific innovation with grassroots action to safeguard marine ecosystems.
“At Hidex, we believe that science is a powerful tool for protecting our planet. Our collaboration with Keep the Archipelago Tidy is a natural extension of our mission to enable research that drives positive environmental impact,” said Jukka Haaslahti.
A Unified Commitment
From supporting SYKE’s research on M/S Aranda to partnering with conservation organisations, Hidex continues to advance research knowledge about aquatic ecosystems while promoting sustainable practices worldwide.
